Voat has a donation link on the bottom of the front page's sidebar. They'll also accept bitcoin if you prefer. The money pretty much all funnels into the bandwidth costs for the site. There are two admins who run the site, and they both have jobs, so this site is a side project for them. The site has suffered concerted DDoS attacks in the past, driving up the hosting costs even more. There's already a welcome post up on /v/announcements about the influx and reiterating the known bug that's being hunted.

Oh, and I'd stick with 'gater, the other one looks too close to 'pedo'.
