I agree with your questioning of this picture. Children are vulnerable. Why are two grown white men (famous and powerful white men) holding either hand of this young black girl. If the black man in the picture is her relative, it is he who should be holding her hand, not the two strangers. I can understand how a young girl might be confused and embarrassed by the whole thing.
