Here in Australia it's trending on Facebook. VERY suspicious timing to be pumping a story like that.

they do not look alike. besides that, the girl in italy looks older than 13 and she doesnt have that thing in her eye like madeleine

I think the article acknowledges that it is not her. I believe this is an attempt to muddy the waters so that the consciousness of the masses never gets to that singular moment of awareness about the topic. Orwell's 1984 at it's finest.
