If you want to stop that from ever happening, just get in the habit of right clicking the video and click "Copy video URL", this way you won't ever accidentally link to a playlist, and you don't have to manually change the URL like RicksonStark said. Just other options.

You can always download it in MP3 version via online converters like Listen To YouTube . Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Usually, it's a matter of finding the right online converter.

here's a somewhat interesting alternative - help build it up by adding content to make it a viable alternative: https://gvid.pw/

gvid also has an option that allows server-to-server transfers, meaning you can upload a YT video (or a video from anywhere) directly to gvid without having to download it locally first, however it's a bit goofy in how it works in that you need to have the actual URL of an mp4 video file, not just the video page URL - not intuitive at all and it simply won't work for 1080p+ videos where YT splits the video and audio into separate files

i tried suggesting that he run something like youtube-dl on his server to make it much easier for users to make use of the direct transfer capability, but the dev is resistant for some reason - you might want to make this request yourself at /v/gvid

I meant that's a place to post them where they won't get removed. Any of these can be archived with savefromnet then uploaded anonymously with no account necessary to vid.me . Some of the longer videos need to be broken into parts due to a time limit, but vid.me is a better place to put stuff than youtube
