Doxing*

r3dtr1x

Both spellings appear to be correct, either that or half the internet is spelling it the same way I did. Here's just one example, of which you can find many. http://www.economist.com/blogs/economist-explains/2014/03/economist-explains-9

You people need to learn the difference between publicly available information and doxxing. Jesus christ. Facebook, linkedin, any source that you can find on the internet without using/breaking passwords is public info. If people dont want their personal information available to be picked apart in the event of a scandal, dont give them it, its their own fault 99% of the time.

PII "personally identifiable information" includes personal address and SSN . Typically, people don't publish their home address or SSN on Facebook, Linkedin, etc. Just because you can dig up this info somewhere, doesn't mean it should be published here. Voter registrations are easy enough to check, and can yield personal addresses, but that doesn't mean the data should be aggregated in such a way.

FuckUredditFuckuSpez

Dude. An address and SSN are not fucking related. what are you talking about. What are you doing. why are all of your comments and posts trying to halt research.

Just as important: Don't fucking contact people, goddamn it
Some of us think it's cute or funny or effective to contact people, and it's not. It's not edgy to film yourself invading their space or bombarding them with questions. Just, don't. Be sneaky, or get called a shill.

FuckUredditFuckuSpez

No Not just as important.... OP'S A SHILL, FUCK him, No one is posting ssn's, fucking retard. and it wasn;t what got pizza gate shut down, fucking retard. Pizza gate was shut down because it was fucking working, and reddit has been fucking inflitrated by David brock, who is the fucking boyfriend of james alefantis.

However, what you've said is super fucking important. Do not fucking contact anyone.

PLEASE PEOPLE! READ THIS. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

How many times has an operation been busted by the cops just running up on the people without getting any info. Sure you might find something, but almost always you lose.

StrangeHologram

Voat allows doxxing. This is paranoid BS

In_Cog_Nito

Voat does not allow doxxing. Your account would be banned, the subverse would not be.

Codewow

"Doxing" in it's basic form is illegal in the U.S. Depending on the person(s) it can either be a federal crime or a state crime.

ratsmack

That is one thing Voat does not allow... please don't.

20-Gauge

We should not do this. I made a careless mistake just a while ago, and posted info I shouldn't have. Another member immediately, and appropriately, reprimanded me for it. I very much appreciate that he did this, and I edited my comment to remove the info.

We need to protect this group, and keep ourselves focused on research and investigation, highest possible standards.

Faustian

No, it's against the rules, and a user can be banned for doxxing another user on here, but a sub would not get shut down for it.

ratsmack

You can be banned for doxxing anyone by supplying private information not normally available to the general public... in general it's not cool.

Faustian

Not that I recall. If it's a user, the admins step in. For anyone else, especially a public figure, it's never been the case.

User Agreement

Voat is for your personal, lawful use

Voat is designed and supported for personal use only. You may not use Voat to break the law, violate an individual's privacy , or infringe any person or entity’s intellectual property or any other proprietary rights. We are not responsible for any decisions you make based on something you read on Voat.

Note the " violate an individual's privacy "... this means anyone.

Don't divulge non-public information.

Faustian

So then we can't talk about Podesta or his emails? Trump, Hillary etc, the guy that walked into comet ping pong with his gun? You know that user agreement has only ever referenced bans for doxxing another user.

ratsmack

I'm sure that is all public information as it is just links to other sites. If you start releasing his SSN or banking information which is stuff not generally publicly available, that may be a problem.

Faustian

Fair point.
