kingkongwaswrong

hey if you have a bit of time, can you write up a set of 'modrules' so we can put in our pizzagatemods sub? That way instead of my brief 'read the rules and dont delete comments' spiel, we have a more comprehensive set of rules for mods? That would be super helpful

Codewow

I never said that. I do think it's a bit of exaggeration on your part. I apologize for overstepping with the "rampant" deletion of (1) comment. Admittedly against the mod rules.

That's how all things happen though, right? Come into power, die by the power.

I wasn't much help anyways my one and only post to pizzagate was the threat one. (Now removed)

No hard feelings, but if you still wanna come meet me. You know who I am. I did publically out myself here.

Codewow

I stepped down. Enjoy. ;)

Codewow

No because that's not a threat against my life.

Crensch

I'm on it.

Codewow

Wait I deleted a ton of comments? When?

Crensch

Yeah, even the long spam-like one at the top there.

Comments have got to be left alone. We have no comment rules, and probably will never have comment rules beyond the sitewide ones.

@numbchuck

No comments. None.

kingkongwaswrong

pew pew! Shots fired.

I'm pretty sure what we ALL meant is that if someone posts something like "lets all get guns and go mob comet!!!" and proceeds to start inciting violence with intent, we would remove that.

But people say stuff like 'I wanna kill the filthy pedos' all the time, and those comments aren't what we're worried about.

We just got super lazy with wording. Thanks for helping us out ^^

@crensch @codewow

Sorry @codewow for not providing more feedback before I told you to add this to the sidebar.

If any posts come up about inciting violence or mobs or gunmen or anything like that. I'm sure we can remove it on the pretext that it's actually against the law? or something

also stop being mean to my mods, they have great intentions. we all overlooked this

Crensch

Yeah, Not all there myself atm. I really should stop myself from doing this when I'm not functioning at at least 80%.

Thanks again.

Crensch

You're right. It wasn't unilateral, as I think I agreed with him on something about this in the other subverse about this same topic just a few hours ago. I was wrong. I'll remove 4 and have him remove this post.

No matter the danger to the subverse or voat as a whole, we cannot compromise this stuff.

Crensch

I just made the same mistake bud. We're all on edge here, and sometimes need someone else to help keep our feet firmly grounded.

Crensch

Good point. I should probably take a break for now - it's not like me to fail this hard.

Thanks for being my Jiminy Cricket, dude.

Crensch

Also, if I say that someone should shoot these pedo fuckers, that is not a threat and shouldn't be touched.

You're right. As usual.

Crensch

Dammit, sorry to spam you with responses - wasn't the comet guy someone that read about PG here, supposedly?

Crensch

You're probably right, and I rescind my response atm. I just have this feeling we're going to be on CNN where threat comments will be plastered all over the TV.

Crensch

Given the possibility now that we (Voat) will get blamed for the attack on Comet Pizza and be shut down as a website posting "Russian influenced propaganda"?

That's the only reason my idea went to that end, to be honest.

Faustian

This is voat. This sub will not get shut down for users threatening other users. Talk to the PV mods; they'll tell you how it works around here. Do not spread false information, especially as a moderator of one of the largest subs on this forum. Thanks.

kingkongwaswrong

It's not the sub - the US govt can now shut down sites they paint as 'russian conspirators'. With the false flag today outside comet pizza there's suspicion it will be used to discredit pizzagate and potentially have the site voat.co shut down - not just the sub, for 'inciting violence' or whatever. In case you weren't aware, Voat.co is a US company with servers IN THE US.

So I think @codewow has valid concerns on how we appear to the public, and how we could impact voat if we are seen to be 'inciting violence' around a topic that there is huge pressure to censor.

We definitely DO NOT want people on this forum to get the idea that we condone physical attacks or anything like that. That is the intention.

happy for @crensch and @kevdude to weigh in

@knowthyself @millenial_falcon

Crensch

The rule needs to be "Threats/actions against anyone, or any business is not condoned, and will be removed."

At least that's my thought. @kevdude ?

Edit: I rescind this comment, but please read my responses to kevdude below and keep them in mind.

Codewow

None of us want the forum being targeted legally for takedown due to any persons threats (even false flag "attempts")

Faustian

We have hate subs on this forum-people say fat people should be burned with fire in almost every post on v/fph . Personal information of the people in the pictures that are posted is not always censored. Mods definitely don't censor it. The users can and sometimes do. No one gets shut down for words here. Take a look around.

Codewow

I want to emphasis that /v/pizzagate is on a much more public level than /v/fatpeoplehate at this present moment and while words may not fully predict action, it could be used in the future as a way to justify a search warrant and shut down by the FBI if it were to get to that point.

I mentioned in my comment below that we understand not everyone means it and it plays out in context. But if we start getting threads calling for attacks on X Y or Z, or comments attempting to gather people for an attack or possibly suggesting someone go out and do something. We may have to step in.

Edit: We won't stop people from protesting. We won't stop you from getting a physical group together to discuss or investigate. Just don't break the law and everything should be fine and dandy.

Faustian

Okay, but again, words here will not get this sub shutdown, and to say otherwise is misleading the userbase. You're right, it is on a public level, and those warrants would be specific to users that made the threat. My point is, none of the hate subs have gotten shut down for words. If you want another rule, fair enough, but maybe at some point in the near future, when this community has downvoating capabilities, you can get community input on all of these rules you have on the sidebar. Many of which are vague, sporadically enforced, and limit content. Thanks.

Codewow

We are open for discussion at anytime. Please refer to /v/pizzagatemods for specifics. All suggestions and opinions appreciated. I will bring this up with them tomorrow. In fact, why not ping them about it now for further discussion @kingkongwaswrong @Crensch

Faustian

It's too late for me now, and the majority of users that comment and submit here still do not have downvoating capabilities. You need their views, whether they choose to voice them with a vote or a comment.

Codewow

I know many of you like to play around. We'll keep that in mind. If we think it absolutely doesn't belong here. We will let you know and we will remove it.

Again, feel free to ask questions or even make suggestions. I, personally, am willing to work with you. As I believe the other mods are too.

Crensch

@kevdude is right here, Code. I, too, was wrong about this a little earlier. This needs to be reworded, or said in a better way, or renegotiated.

I appreciate your work and your support of free speech.
