How do you guys not get nihilistic? It's hard for me to seriously entertain this stuff, not because I think it's false - I'm actually quite sure a good amount of it has some validity - but, I don't because It seems too ingrained, too large, too damning. If even 20% of the general things in this sub is true I feel like we are living in hell.

Some of us have known about this sort of thing since Fritz Springmeyer wrote his seminal work . We've had years to get over the initial shock.

Most people equate nihilism with suicide, depression, and a "why bother?". It doesn't have to be that way. If you can appreciate that there is no meaning to life, outside of the meaning you give to it, you can clearly see how others have applied that concept in positive and negative ways. You and you alone have the power to affect your life. Others need your consent to affect your life.

Make no mistake, this information is probably (likely) going to change your world view. Yes, we are largely run by psychopaths that are not only enjoying hurting the world, but are part of a suicide cult (look deeper into zoroastrianism) designed to destroy it. Yes, you have likely elected at least one child molester into office. There are even religious interpretations (freemasonry, namely) that state yes, we are in hell.

What you are experiencing is textbook cognitive dissonance. You're overcoming it, but recognize it for what it is. Good luck.
