Lurker, coming to comment on this. If you are saying that someone shouldn't talk to their teen daughter about this, you're wrong. You should be talking to her about these realities and you should have been talking to her for awhile so she knew it was okay to tell you if she thought something was weird. NOT talking to your children about predators is the wrong way to go. Be open, be honest, be age appropriate, but yes tell her. I have a 13 year old daughter and it has been hard to share details, I certainly tell her that the reality of the world is that there are terrible things happening. How can our children step up and fight and not become sheep? Teach them.
