Here's his speech. Some more background . Obama calling for him to resign because he fired 8 U.S. Attorney's in March of 2007. Meanwhile, for historical context, Clinton fired all 93 U.S. Attorney's upon taking office.

Here's what I'm getting at: Is it possible that the attorney firing "scandal" was just an excuse to get him out of office because of his new mission to catch online predators? Were politicians afraid of being exposed? I think we should look into who the most vocal opponents of Gonzalez were and the ones who called for him to resign.

From my personal experiences in my short time in a criminal law workplace, I believe that there really needs to be some sort of third party, separate and distinct judicial and prosecution entity in the U.S. Judges and Prosecutors work too closely with politicians and law enforcement to ever be unbiased, which they need to be. There needs to be a new "estate" of sorts, where all crimes involving government actors are tried and prosecuted by those detached from those political arenas.
