I would say fake. Assange wouldn't have given his life insurance files to someone stupid enough to announce the release 24h in advance. Let's see. If the Finding Assange folks do not tragically suicide during the night, I predict that the 15k emails will turn out to be perfectly innocent, contain shameless promotional stuff, or "expose" a conspiracy between fake-news websites, Russia and Trump.

It seems like WikiLeaks should know, more than anyone, that announcing a large posting is a cat call for attacks beforehand by hackers. The reason i'd suspect the doubt is that several choice individuals, such as Little Kim (dot com), have made these game show announcements for YUGE releases in the past that never came to fruition. So far, all the fine details point to Assange being gone from the picture, and WikiLeaks web compromised. There was the 8chan individual whom stated he was part of the team to the Reddit AMA a month back from the 'WikiLeaks team'.

Regardless, we'll have to see whether they use any form of verification system WikiLeaks has used in the past (PGP/DKIM/etc).

If the wikileaks twitter account is compromised they may just be using a different method.

They don't have to release through the countdown site. The countdown could just be a countdown for when they release with any variety of methods.

If this is true, it's both very good and horribly, horribly bad. It's good because we'll get a lot more information to follow up on, and the public will become even more aware, and the evildoers will be that much closer to justice.

It would be horribly, horribly bad because it would almost certainly mean Assange is dead.

At least we only have to wait a day to find out if there's any truth to this.
