How to handle shills

If you've been the target of shills, you know what I'm talking about when I say we have to fix this. Going from 100+ points to negative numbers overnight is frustrating. Lately, we've discovered some of their tactics. They produce many accounts, post links with no context, upvoat themselves, and then downvoat us.

If you see a link post with no context, no comments from the poster, or something that looks suspicious, visit the poster's profile and look at their other posts. If you see a pattern of behavior that still looks suspicious, copy and paste the following into a comment on their posts with an explanation of why you think they are a shill.

Shill alert! @kingkongwaswrong @Melitica @Crensch @numbchuck @KnowThyself @heygeorge @VictorSteinerDavion @Phobos_Mothership @Millennial_Falcon @RedGreenAlliance @AnyFucker @DonkeyOatey @rktyp

This will alert all the mods and janitors, etc of the post. Don't do it unless you have good reason to believe the person is a shill, though. That would be obnoxious, which is not helpful.

Note: they will try the same tactics. The way to beat them is to engage in useful, intelligent conversation and post useful, intelligent things with lots of context. They won't want to put more work into being useful than we do, because that's the opposite of what they want.

We are smarter than them. We are far more numerous than them. We are better than them. We are in the right side. We will win.

Yeah you did this to me, and I'm not a shill, and yeah it was obnoxious! So yeah have a good reason before alerting all the mods to them. Otherwise yeah I agree with everything.
