That's not how consent works...

ThePuppetShow

Nope, but that's how upvotes work. =)

Kawksnahch

ThePuppetShow

Have an up vote!

DcFunny

BS they've been doing "rolling blackouts". Apparently they're opening it up at bad times, we've been stagnant at 9500 since they started it. Beginning to question sincerity of the mods here. They also keep removing the informative sticky for a circle jerk about what to do to combat shills and who the new mod is blah blah blah. That is the definition of forum sliding, but what do I know.

Signups aren't opened or closed by mods, it's admin-level stuff. Also, changing a single sticky cannot, by definition, cause a forum slide, and Voat only allows a single sticky per subverse.

ThePuppetShow

Most of the mods are part of the admin, no?

Forum sliding by definition is

If a very sensitive posting of a critical nature has been posted on a forum - it can be quickly removed from public view by 'forum sliding.' In this technique a number of unrelated posts are quietly prepositioned on the forum and allowed to 'age.' Each of these misdirectional forum postings can then be called upon at will to trigger a 'forum slide.' The second requirement is that several fake accounts exist, which can be called upon, to ensure that this technique is not exposed to the public. To trigger a 'forum slide' and 'flush' the critical post out of public view it is simply a matter of logging into each account both real and fake and then 'replying' to prepositined postings with a simple 1 or 2 line comment. This brings the unrelated postings to the top of the forum list, and the critical posting 'slides' down the front page, and quickly out of public view. Although it is difficult or impossible to censor the posting it is now lost in a sea of unrelated and unuseful postings. By this means it becomes effective to keep the readers of the forum reading unrelated and non-issue items.

You dont have to make multiple posts to make a difference when there's only one sticky. Most lurkers are going to come in and see nothing because "hot" or "new" is selected. Not everyone looking has forum knowledge or the patience to search through shit to find the meat. Just seems odd to me, thats all.

You can't slide a forum by changing the single sticky to be another post. The topmost post will be different from what it would be if it was a subjectively more important post stickied, sure. But it doesn't bury other threads at all. I'm not sure about the overlap between site admins and /pizzagate mods, but closing signups is a site-wide change which I'm sure is decided at the site staff level.

ThePuppetShow

LOL technically you're right, but it has the same end result. (Poof) it's gone, to all who don't have "top" selected. Guess what's selected by default? "Hot" So, all the lurkers stopping in are seeing bullshit until they click "top", if they even do. Tons of people aren't web savy. That, imo, is a form of forum sliding.
