I don't think this is accurate. Russia has been fighting a noble fight against the globalists, but it's in their own interests to do so. Putin wants Russia to be the dominant and most influential country in the world, basically the role the US plays now.

Putin has been supportive of Trump because he knows that Trump hates the globalists and is going to dismantle the current NATO power structure. That's very good for Russia because it means that Europe won't have the backing or support of the US. The EU knows this as well, they've already started building their own European army.
