My opinion. This video shows the introduction of esoteric knowledge to the protagonist (Alefantis?). Once he sees it he can't unsee it, he can't deny that it is there, and in fact it seems it is part of his reality now, no matter how he chooses to look at it. His friend accepts it willingly but unwittingly, he does not understand what he is following, but likes it regardless. His friend sees value in it without understanding what he is appreciating. The protagonist has no choice but to live with the informatuon he did not seek.
