I read fanfic. This particular story was always dark, but it was started back in like 2013 or 2014. The antagonist was a woman who headed an international pedophile ring. Story didn't update for like a year and a half, but after the election, a bunch of chapters were written, working in details of pizzagate. I think the author is trying to subversively inform people about Pizzagate through their writing. The FSoG fanverse has a huge readership. It's one way to spread the word, I guess.
