Yes I totally agree. Voat needs some way of tying a new user request to a phone number. This is exactly what Google does to secure accounts and prevent spammers and alts from s****** all over things.

Who can we ask about adding this feature? The reason a cell phone number is needed is people have to PAY for that number. Hence right there you'll guarantee to cut down on spurious accounts.
