Ronald McDonald House may be involved --- but for the record here is what I know first hand. The group helps families of children (I don't think children directly). When a child gets a serious diagnosis and has to be treated out of town the Ronald McDonald House offered free lodging to parents/family to stay nearby.

I know a family who had a seriously ill newborn that needed heart surgery that could only be done in Chicago. The insurance paid for that but not for 'extras' like where the family would stay when it was hundreds of miles away.

The charity provided extended stay at no cost. All ended well.

So let's at least look at mission statement, finance records etc. for that charity.
