The death penalty is allowed in the United States. However, the president can't just "declare" a new law. Congress would have to write a new law with the death penalty attached and he could sign it. And this would not apply to most cases involving pedophiles because generally that is not a federal crime. It's a state crime. States can determine whatever punishment they wish.
More important is the Donald Trump absolutely did not declare anything on this subject this week. He tweeted about this. FOUR YEARS AGO.
The article links to an article from last month also on a dubious site and that article points to a tweet from 2012.
That's the reason it's not making news. It's not new and "Declare" is a lie.
So the reason it's not being covered is it's fake news.
Yes, but I think that the death penalty for anything less that first degree murder would be considered cruel and unusual punishment. Most state don't even use the death penalty as it is.
There's no reason to persecute a non-offending individual. Do you want 1984 style thought police? Because that's how you get 1984 style thought police.
I agree for another reason as well, some of these with confused thinking are this way because they've been abused. A death penalty threat hanging over their heads will assure that many of them will take strong measures to keep their thoughts reigned in.
People can't keep their thoughts reigned in. The conscious mind just acts as another sense for the lower brain to use. What will happen is that, with the threat of a death penalty, these people will hide instead of seeking treatment, allowing their condition to fester until they are desperate for an outlet and then--guess what happens?
I might see your point if there were actually any data to base a judgement upon. Without data, no substantive conclusion can be made, so clearly the only way to, as a reasonable person, properly handle this is to test until sufficient data is available to reach an informed conclusion.
I disagree. Every single pedo should be shot because they are a threat to children. Even if they're moral and disciplined one slip up will harm a child, and if there is one thing that humans are bad at it's denying themselves sexual gratification. Find them, kill them, and be vigilant in future generations to ensure the trait is removed from the gene pool.
Ok, then do you have evidence that it is, in fact, a genetically inherited trait? For that matter, while we're at it, why not kill all straight people since they're dangerous to the opposite sex. Then kill all gay people because they're a threat to their own sex. Then you just have asexuals, so everyone's safe, right? Totally worth killing the majority of humans. Flawless logic.
I imagine that's it a combination of genetics and environment. Whatever the cause, the important thing is that we weed out the pedos. I would recommend mandatory testing at puberty, followed by immediate execution of pedophiles.
The difference is that straight people, gay people, and all other sexual orientations that involve consensual behaviors between consenting
adults
have a safe outlet for their sexuality. There is no safe outlet for pedophilia, and it's completely unrealistic to expect a human to deny themselves a sexual outlet for their entire lives.
I know that for people like you who are attracted to young boys and girls this is a hard pill to swallow, but if you think about it I believe you'll come to understand that society would be a better place without you.
I'm no pedophile; I'm just not a reductionist bigot like you. In Germany, there are therapy programs available that can rehabilitate pedophiles and help them find better outlets. There are such a thing as sex dolls, too. There are ways for them to operate within society. Genocide is never the answer.
Think about it this way: if it fails they'll probably end up committing suicide, and then you've gotten what you want without dirtying your hands. Wouldn't you consider that a win?

Yeah, except the President cannot "declare" sentencing guidelines. This looks like click bait.
▼ Kwijibo
The source seems dubious to me. Also even if Trump said it, it will never happen. It would be considered unconstitutional.
▼ doubletake
dubious -- good word, this is how it struck me. it's such a strong statement you would think that MSM would have carried it.
▼ Kwijibo
The libs would have been all over it.

I want to tweet this to James Alefantes. What is his twitter handle?
▼ rodental
Really hope he follows through, and that he means all pedophiles and not just child molesters.

We already have 1984 style thought police

I might agree with you if I had any evidence that there was any hope in "treatment". I think the fear of death may be more effective.

Just like they can rehabilitate homosexuals? Because that works really well...

That's a pretty big assumption. Some people just keep on living no matter how wretched they are.
