I just watched Eyes Wide Shut again yesterday and I could hardly remember anything from 1999 when it came out but I didn't think it was that great of a movie. If anything the theme seems to be "the illuminati secret societies really like sex."

Feel like eyes wide shut holds the key to this stuff. Like he's telling us everything we need to know if we just open up our eyes and see it (or are willing to believe it? ). Like maybe we just read way too much into it. What if it's meant to be taken, well, literally?

i think he was in their circle and they allowed him to make his films. they probably got a kick seeing all the little easter eggs he left in there for them. i could see them off'ing him after his last masterpiece of a film....because--why not?--rituals and sacrifices n shit. b/c they have the power. they can make you famous and take it away.

After reading a bit about Kubrick and hearing interviews with some close to him, I've come to suspect that he was clairvoyant without knowing it. I believe this also happened with Tom Clancy. Military insiders have presumed he must have had top secret clearance given the precision of detail in his books. But he himself claimed that it was all by coincidence. I think he also has clairvoyant abilities he was not aware of and was possibly killed because he was revealing too much.

I remember reading lolita (English translation). The writing is immersive and brilliant.
