They need simple majority to end filibuster, and simple majority to confirm. Longest individual filibuster was 24 hours, longest group was 57 days, both were southern senators blocking civil rights bill, not proudest moment. Nuclear option just allows the simple majority instead of the 60 vote super majority. But sounds like they have the votes, based on the silent vote, so at some point they'll break the filibuster and say enough is enough I suppose, but I think they would have to do that between speakers, which is why we sometimes have long individual filibusters, Cruz went 18 hours over Obamacare. Edit again: He has now cited Vanity Fair and their article on Matthew Shepard stating that Sessions will reverse laws to protect homosexuals in the work place and against hate crimes. Now bringing up that poor black man dragged behind a truck until he died in Texas. Both crimes are sick and helped get laws passed to protect people against hate crimes. What I don't get is that John McCain and Lindsey Graham's initials were floated and people were posting that they were going to be arrested soon. This vote is going to be so close that if those 2 vote no Sessions won't be confirmed. Pizzagate doesn't seem to be a Democrat only issue and it doesn't seem right that a few corrupt republicans votes can't be found to kill Sessions chances. It seems like things are going to break wide open soon but I still remain skeptical that a large number of politicians will be indicted shortly.
