It's a fish hook motif, also sewing a lei (cheesy party favor type), not suspicious. Common things in a large area - the pacific, west coast, nz, aus, etc.

There seems to be a misunderstanding that swirls or spirals are pedo symbols, pretty much it doesn't hold true unless they are triangles. The boy lover symbol, and even more the little boy lover symbol are spirals, but they hold the shape of triangles. Regular spirals of swirls are normal. Or mean other things.

Agreed. I think this might be a Maori tribe symbol. I have a couple of necklaces from my visit to New Zealand years ago, and this necklace looks like a mix between the two.
