Today I am announcing 22-felony charges of criminal sexually assault in the first degree for Dr. Larry Nassar.

The charges announced today for Nassar involve 9 young girls. 2 under 13, 7 between 13-16.

Each of the children Nassar allegedly assaulted were gymnasts and were treated by Nassar at his home, the gym or his clinic.

For all 22 counts, I have instructed AAGs Povilaitis and Liddell to seek life in prison.

Dr. Nassar preyed on girls so young they didn't understand what was happening to them. He deceived the girls and their parents.

.@msupolice has been, and continues to be, a strong partner investigating the sexual assaults allegedly committed by Larry Nassar.

Dr. Larry Nassar treated female gymnasts at Michigan State University and was also the doctor for USA Gymnastics for almost twenty years.

Yes, and this was featured on 60 Minutes last Sunday. I hope it had a large audience. People need to wake up. This is a subject that must be discussed more often. I hope it goes higher up.
