I'm very skeptical of this statute of limitations excuse when a known cover up is involved. And we don't even know the extent of the cover up and how many years payoffs were being made. There should have been a federal investigation of this and then a determination made about a prosecution. That congress hasn't investigated every aspect of this is as much of a scandal as Hastert's rapes. And I'm a right winger who wouldn't vote for a Democrat if you put a gun to my head.

15 months in prison? Why do rich politicians or government workers get cut a deal? It should be 15 years minimum. shaking my head. I'm not sure this judge would be to our advantage. They'd have to lock me up for striking the judge if they gave these people 15 months.

the charges were for the financial crime of structuring. The rape charges were past statute of limitations.

I completely forgot about that. I vote to remove statue of limitations where child abuse or child sexuality has taken place.

ALL IN FAVOR?!?

We don't appear to have a voice. Government isn't made for the public, it's made for high end politicians and corporations, and to protect those who work for it. They don't care about changing laws that support children's rights. This is becoming clear. The public is made for the corporation $ and political power - wars for $, rings of drugs-pedo-arms for $. They get people to be patriotic to the party or politicians but have zero interest in the health of the public.

I agree that 15 months is way too lenient! Maybe it had to do with the fact that it happened 40 years ago. I don't know how all that works.

But the article says this Judge continually slammed Hastert throughout, calling him a serial child rapist. Made me think he would be on our side. Just a thought.

I completely forgot that the statute of limitations ran out. Thanks for the reminder. In that case you could be right there.
Maybe this judge will push to remove the statute of limitations for child abuse and sex crimes.

So true. I forgot that the statute of limitations ran out and he wasn't charged for pedo crimes. Legislation needs to remove the statute of limitations on child abuse and sexual pedo crimes.

If we could get judges to help us assemble our investigation into a formal case it could be a breakthrough. Even if we don't put together a turn key court case, simply having the massive body of evidence organized in a format attorneys are used to working with would make it easy for DOJ and others to make use of it.

That's not the role that judges play. They only HEAR cases brought before them. For a judge to engage in such activity would be unethical and likely cost him his robe.

You might get a RETIRED judge. Better yet, enlist the help of a retired PROSECUTOR. But keep in mind that they would hold NO official power over anything. You would be relying on their "connections," i.e. relationships.

Also, at least some law enforcement is in the bag for these pedoes. There is likely no way around that.

I meant retired judge but I didn't make that clear.

Accidentally forgot - should read "serial child rapist".
