The only way you can make this a "thing" is if you purposefully take what he said during his confirmation hearing out of context. He was asked by Franken if he was aware of any meetings between trump campaign and russian officials during the campaign or if he met with them acting as a surrogate for the campaign. He wasn't and he hadnt. That's the truth. It's his job to meet with them as a member of the committee. He didn't meet with them on behalf of the campaign and the campaign had nothing to do with it. Other senators would've known very well it's his job to meet with foreign officials while on the committee, and it'd be irrelevant to the question asked.

This entire story seems fake as shit. Maybe I am under Trump's spell but it just seems so unbelievably fake.

According to the report(s) someone got to a Sessions spokesman who said that he was answering Franken within the context of campaign involvement. Apparently the two communications including one meeting in Sessions' office were just recently admitted, but that they had to do with Sessions being on the Armed Forces cmte/subcmte of the Senate. Other senators on that committee have said they didn't meet with the Russian Ambassador.

We'll just have to see if there is any there, there. I'm inclined to speculate that Sessions will survive in office, bruised and that it will be used as fodder to demand a special prosecutor assigned to Russian involvements.

Well he lied under oath about speaking with the Russians. Honestly why shouldn't they call for his resignation? There is really no way to defend what he did.
