This Washington Post article is not available by conventional Google Search, but it proves that Hastert and Tony Podesta's relationship runs deep. Not only that, but Dennis Hastert's son actually worked for PodestaMattoon (an earlier incarnation of Podesta Group) in the early 2000s.

But there's more. It appears that the Podesta brothers flew on Air Force One with Hastert on a trip to Latin America.

The elder Podesta and Hastert have been friends since they were active in campus politics in Illinois 33 years ago Tony with the College Democrats and Denny with the College Republicans. After Hastert came to Washington as a newly elected House member in 1987, Tony introduced him to John. A demon chef, the younger Podesta has since whipped up dinner for Hastert, and the two men got to know each other better last year when they were seatmates on Air Force One during a presidential trip to Latin America.

The trip consisted of a voyage to Colombia to sell Black Hawk helicopters and to negotiate an arms deal with the Colombian government . What's odd is that Hastert, who tried to get Clinton impeached as Republican speaker of the house, continued to work with his administration before AND after the debacle. Another weird connection is that the Colombian ambassador to the USA helped in negotiations with Hastert and the Podestas, and a decade later, Tony Podesta and the Colombian ambassador are both serving as chairs on James Alefantis' art auction committee. . The program needing more looking into is called PlanColombia .
