Remember that SE Asia is where the GOLDEN TRIANGLE is, the #2 spot for production of opium (Afghanistan being #1). That is WHY we "fought" the Vietnam War. And why we are fighting in Afghanistan.

It is also no "coincidence" that there is a GOLDEN TRIANGLE in Washington, D.C. near CPP, a GOLDEN TRIANGLE in London, and a GOLDEN TRIANGLE in Rome.

Technically speaking Cambodia has no land in the Golden Triangle. Take a look at the map that you provided from wikipedia. The GT consists of Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. With that said, Cambodia is a major transit route because of a mixture of poverty and systemic corruption. In other words, it's easy to bribe people. Human trafficking is a major problem and the government has only started cracking down on it recently. There aren't many social services and I'm surprised it even functions at all. There's hardly law enforcement there (ie 7 year olds driving motorcycles everyday).
