Weird article. I hate the perpetuation of the idea that child abuse is something that happened '60 years ago.' The things he describes are terrible, but nothing compared to the horrors we've been learning about here. And it's very strange the last line when he recalls putting an arm around a male friend as a child and being shrugged off - 'I realised I had transgressed' he ends with. How does that fit in? It's almost as though he's getting mixed up between people remaining silent about the appalling crime of child abuse, and people being silent about physical affection between males that could be interpreted as homoerotic. Not a good comparison with which to end his article. What made you share it, was there something about it you thought was illuminating?

Child abuse has been around since the beginning of time.
Abuse was still hidden in plain sight 50, 40, 30, 20 years ago, and now.
