One of Father John Misty's new music videos, ('Pure Comedy') features a montage of images, and near the climax of the song, there's a clip of Chris Hanson confronting a pizza eating pedophile: Father John Misty: Pure Comedy as the lyrics describe: "Where did these find these goons they elected to rule them? What makes these clowns they idolize so remarkable? These mammals are hellbent on fashioning new gods, so they can go on being godless animals." It also features drawn black and white cartoons in a style similar to the Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymus Bosch, and one of the images is a priest holding a knife over a child in a pentagram/heart motif.

In a press release for the album , he actually addresses the pedophile rings directly...

I actually really like this dudes music, (although I never liked 'Sally Hatchet', even before seeing the music video), I really hope he's not involved with all this, but it's a disturbing possibility. I'm an artist, and I used to draw Baphomet and Pyramid-Eye shit, but it was always more as a way to render the darker sides of the human archetype, (I also didn't think this stuff was real, then). Looking back on that it was really fucking naive, but it happens, and not everyone is in on it, just because they use Satanism as a theme. But it's disappointing to hear it in shit I like and not get the feeling that it's some soft roll-out to get people comfortable with it. The Mountain Goats does it as well.

I'm a huge fan of Josh Tillman, and have to say I'd be massively surprised to discover he's linked in any way to anything dodgy. He's a down to earth guy, used to be the drummer for Fleet Foxes before branching out on his own. He's just released his third album, and while I haven't heard it yet he's been getting more and more popular and more exposure.. Which may lead him into the path of more 'connected' film directors and other (bigger) celebrities. I didn't know about his links with beyonce and gaga actually.

I remember him saying he grew up in a religious family; his father would be on stage giving talks or sermons or whatever to his local crowd, but as a result of his childhood he's an atheist, but has retained all the charm and wit and ability to hold a crowd that his father held.. If he wasn't a musician he could easily be a stand up comedian.

He's said he hates the name Joshua for it's religious connotations. But again, his music conveys lots of ideological and religious themes with a sarcy, sharp wit and a modern, sexy slant on a lot of it too.

Idk just my musings and thoughts. I hope this connection hasn't put anyone off seeing him live as he really is immense, and IMO his first two albums are modern classics, I have high hopes for the new one.

Ha, I had completely forgotten about Father John Misty. My dad listens a lot to BBC 6 Music and I remember working in our home office together with it on, all day, every day, for about 3 months, when the album "I love you, Honeybear" had been released.
