Why is there a separate charge for engaging in prostitution within 1,000 feet of a church? Is the penalty outside 1,000 feet better or worse?

Its an extra charge to engage in drug sales or prostitution near a church OR school.

It just seems like such a serious crime for the sentence to be affected by being an arbitrary distance from a perticular building. Just have the more serious charge be the charge for both.

Chances are he will do a plea and the some of the charges will be dropped altogether. I think that they initially charge with a lot for shock value and then plea down.

Let's hope there is a stiff sentence. Also I hope this young boy gets some help with his drug addiction and counseling. Evidently he has a problem if he has girlfriend and is willing to be involved with a man. Selling yourself if you are out on the streets and have no home or food is one thing, or to provide for your children, but to get money for spring break? He is either really screwed up or he is lying and he could be gay or bi-sexual. Nothing wrong with that, but he needs counseling before he gets STDs and passes them on to others.
