On or just before November 16, 2016 Media Matters for America launches a petition to Tell Facebook: Fix Your Fake News Problem . On November 19 Mark Zuckerberg responds on Facebook . Fake news peaks on Google for the first time. Media Matters celebrates .

On November 21 The New York Times publishes an attempted debunk of Pizzagate: Fake News Onslaught Targets Pizzeria as Nest of Child-Trafficking . The article mentions Zuckerberg's promise to attack fake news and notes that David Brook of Media Matters for America is the former boyfriend of Alefantis, but fails to mention that Media Matters for America was behind Zuckerberg's post. Media Matters celebrates again.

I thought it was because the mass propaganda didn't work when the MSM were in shock Trump won and it started the day after the election.

I associated the pressholes' fake news meme with pizzagate which, of course, was created after Wikileaks' disclosure of Podesta's e-mails. Indeed, right when I first learned of pizzagate and chatter was starting did the fake news script came out. The media tried to ignore it but it grew. That was when fake news was born. There is nothing else in the Podesta e-mails--subject wise--that has been labeled "fake news ". Just the pizzagate thingy. Later, in attacking Trump's election, the pressholes started using "fake news" to play up the Russian bullshit and, later, to attack blogs/websites on the right. Trump did us a favor turning it around on them as it is now shoved down their throats daily.

Exactly. Pizzagate is just the tip of the iceberg. The MSM knew that the Podesta Emails would start investigations and mayhem and to cover the entire operation up before people got to the bigger picture which is Pedogate (AKA Global Child Trafficking) they created the Fake News narrative. Obvious Counter Measure to PG.

To be honest, that would probably be a good case of confirmation bias. You probably didn't notice it before bc you weren't actively investigating something being labeled as fake news. I could be wrong about that though since idk what you were doing two years ago, lol. Just an idea.

I wrote a thought piece on this exact topic, as I saw this developing back in November. My essay on the pizzagate subverse of Reddit was shadow banned immediately, and I was puzzled by others telling me they could not read it when they clicked the link. Reddit banned the entire pizzagate subdomain a few hours later.

Reminder: "Pizzagate" was launched to counter "Pedogate".

I actually believe that the "fake news" narrative was concocted by Clinton-friendly media (and/or deep state) to counter what was coming out of WikiLeaks. They had no intention of reporting anything from WikiLeaks so they were desperately hoping to discredit and scare people away from damning things that they may have seen through Facebook, Twitter or other non-globalist media. It just so happens that "spirit cooking" and "pizzagate" were the major things to come out of the Podesta emails at that time.
