By definition, if a child has gone missing, they are in imminent danger. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Even if a child decides to spend time with friends and not tell the parents, those friends may not be trustworthy and they're still out there, making decisions on their own that they're not ready to make. Or are the police involved? This is absolutely ludicrous: authorities needs confirmation that the missing person is in violent danger before they can issue an amber alert? How tf would they know if they're in violent danger?
