@0011011000111001 : Can you please move some of the comments with links into the main body of your post so we don't have to remove this per Rule 4? You will want to click "source" and copy from the box that opens so you capture all the formatting and links. Thanks!

Yes, plan on doing that tomorrow at work.

Hey 0011, you seem to know a lot about websites, what can you tell me about these..... redt3.cheetahmail.com 2) mail.dorothyperkins.com 3) accessify.com 4) email.sweetspot.ca 4) ebordersstores.com 5) easycounter.com 6) rollingstone.chtah.com 7) mipinchme.com Any insight on any of these would be greatly appreciated and thanks again for the heads up on the websites!

Buttfuckmebigfoot

Can you use VPNs on mobile? My laptop just died and I can't afford a new one just yet

0011011000111001

Yes, I'm replying from my mobile phone and using one.

Baconmon

You might put ProtonMail in there too.. You can read the wikipedia article about it.. It became open to the public last year and was created by the CERN super collider people and it is end-to-end encrypted email service.. Based in switzerland and out of US and EU jurisdiction..

palmitespo910

I use ProtonMail. The bad part is that if you are using your ProtonMail email and talking to a Gmail person, it isn't safe from the end of Gmail.

Well they figured that out too. You can add a password encryption to it and send it as an email. It only sends as a link, you follow the link and put in the password and then you can read the email. If the sender doesn't give you the password, you have absolutely no way of accessing the email. Oh and it expires in 30 days.

0011011000111001

I have two accounts for my "password" reset accounts. Good point!

To the top!!!!

I'll edit it tomorrow at work..

nomorepepperoni

Remember, as well, that these things can be cracked by NSA, CIA, and other spooks if they want to know what you're up to. But that doesn't mean drop your VPN or "give up", especially if you already are using one. Here's a remark FBIAnon made re: tracking, and I think it makes complete sense.

"It does not matter. Any agency can find any computer working right now. What you have to do is get lost in the noise. Do not do anything out of your ordinary behavior and you will be fine."

So, if you currently search in the clear, for example, and are concerned, it would be best not to suddenly start deploying all the privacy controls at once, as it would be more likely flagged, since it isn't your normal behavior. If you wish to deploy more secure controls, do it gradually and in as muddy a manner as you can think up.

As an IT pleb, I can confidently hypothesize that traffic monitoring of this nature can and will include some amount of AI/automated controls to flag more "interesting" patterns for further "research" by agents or other filters.

palmitespo910

Shit, like my bank tracking my spending. Hm.

0011011000111001

Good point, and I agree with it.

If someone wants to get your information, they will. Period.

nomorepepperoni

Doesn't mean you can't try and cloak yourself in "normal". It may well work in your favor.

archive.is it if you guys can, prevent it from disappearing and keep the rest of us safe. For all we know, some of these links may be honeypots.

Matter of fact, that should be a new rule for the safety of users.

Codewow

What exactly is "unsafe" about any of this? Minus the unencrypted websites. What do we really have to fear? There are a few of us here that are publicly identifiable. That is probably safer than being some anonymous lurker to be honest.

0011011000111001

All of the people that mysteriously died. That is the problem. You find a big story? Post it here? It gains enough attention? GG, WP. Look at this Arron dude.

Super helpful step by step guide...takes 10 minutes! https://qz.com/945261/how-to-get-a-personal-vpn-and-why-you-need-one-now/

strix-varia

Wish a very not very knowledgeable computer person could understand this.

0011011000111001

What can I do to assist?

strix-varia

Thanks for asking! I just post stuff and hope for the best. I don't know what VPN is, although I could look it up. Content Blocker? HTTPS? I know nothing about it. I am on DDG through Firefox, that's all I know. And if you know any books that I could look up that may be helpful. Is there a computer for dummie book that would help?!!

0011011000111001

The orginal post was deleted sadly..

But a VPN is a Virtual Private Network.

Every network device has an "address" like a home.

A VPN makes it appear like you're coming from another address.

For example, you pay for ATT at home for internet. They assign your house a "public address". All computers from home are bundled under that address. When you have a VPN you go out to the VPN server, and then go to the internet. So the website sees you as the VPN server rather than your public address.

Content blocker, AD BLOCK, there are a lot of different names for it. Popup blocker, etc. You can download a plugin for Google Chrome called uBlock Orgin, it blocks not only ads, but scripts (which can pass viruses), and even has an option to block individual things (like a NSFW image here on voat for a post).

HTTP is a method of communication for computers a "protocol". It allows a computer to talk to a website, or another computer. This traffic is not encrypted because it isn't HTTPS. S stands for secure because any site with this protocol has its data encrypted. So with a HTTPS site someone can see that you went to a site, but not what you did on that site.. (unless the site has malware or something that installs to your PC).

Basic computer info, I would get a book based on the A+ certification for PCs. It goes over basic computer repair, OS info, and netoworking. It would be the entry level cert for most IT jobs.

strix-varia

Wow, thanks! I cannot believe your post was deleted, but then again, yes I can believe it. So where do I acquire a VPN? Can I get Ad Block through Brave? I don't use Google and try and steer as far as possible from the leeches. And how do I communicate through HTTPS? Sorry about this, obviously total beginner here. Thank you very much though!

0011011000111001

At this time it doesn't look like Brave supports add-ons (content blockers). But.. it appears that by default it blocks ads and trackers "The new Brave browser automatically blocks ads and trackers, making it faster...".

I don't know if that means the browser blocks scripts running as well.. but.. who knows.

HTTPS and a content blocker would be browser addons. Mozilla Firefox and Chrome both support these (so does IE and Edge but less add-ons are available).

Good VPN's require a monthly subscription.

Most free VPN's log your information and sell it to make the service free (got to make money somehow).

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2403388,00.asp

There are TONS of VPN services out there, just make sure you research it first. Does it also encrypt your browsing data (you want this)? Does it log your usage (you don't want this).

EDIT: Encryption in short, if I have a encrypted file on my computer it would appear normal to me. For example, I have a text file with my password in it. I open the file and the password looks fine. If you were to remove my hard drive and copy that file to your computer that same file will have random numbers/letters where my password would be.

strix-varia

Thanks for your time, once again!!

I'd also recommend using something to help mask the fingerprint of your browser like this- https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/user-agent-switcher-for-c/djflhoibgkdhkhhcedjiklpkjnoahfmg?hl=en-US

Can test your browser here - https://panopticlick.eff.org/ - Switching agent between sites should help further prevent tracking if you are concerned at that level.

And if you are using a VPN, don't forget about STUN server requests that can leak local/public IP when behind VPN - http://lifehacker.com/how-to-see-if-your-vpn-is-leaking-your-ip-address-and-1685180082 You can test it here - https://www.perfect-privacy.com/webrtc-leaktest/

The best would be to disconnect your HDD/SSD and just to boot to TAILS when you are doing PG research - https://tails.boum.org/ - and connect to your VPN/Proxy/Tor from there, and if you are really serious about compartmentalizing your work then I'd take a look at Qubes OS - https://www.qubes-os.org/

In any case, you could have all the best applications running and still can be compromised by clicking the wrong link.

Hell, with the NSA man on the side attacks you don't even need to click on anything - http://www.netresec.com/?page=Blog&month=2015-09&post=Covert-Man-on-the-Side-Attacks

huhWHAThuh

I appreciate the heads up too. But do you guys seriously think you will defeat the NSA with things like VPN and PGP etc.? Over the years i have tripped their system so many times I've lost count. One time some word i typed in chat caused my monitor screen to start flashing and my landline phone to ring 3 short rings (not normal phone call rings). I think they didn't have all the bugs worked out back then. The only caution i would advise is say nothing on forums that you wouldn't say to their face. That seems to be a good rule of thumb. Other than that, if they want you for exercising free speech, they can have you anytime they want. If you were doing this from the North Pole using 256 bit encryption, Delta Force could have you in custody within a few hours. The only real safety is in numbers. Speak the truth plainly. They can't send Delta force out to apprehend several billion people.

Computer illiterate here -- and much of what he is saying is lost on me! How would we do any of this?

According to Snowden, there is no way we're not being spied on. Even the method he suggests, TOR, is actually an NSA honeypot. I say fuck em. https://pando.com/2014/12/26/if-you-still-trust-tor-to-keep-you-safe-youre-out-of-your-damn-mind/

PizzagateBot

I will visit any page, share any link, and say anything, within the confines of the law,

That is very poorly thought out. Doesn't matter if it is intentional or not, what you are suggesting is not in the best interest of people here.

dFrog

To my previous reply, I will simply add that we are all effectively victims of data-mining anyway. You're not going to bypass NSA data-mining capabilities with the precautions proposed in this thread. Get yourself on NSA/CIA radar and they'll look at the communications they've got on you should they feel compelled to. Assuming you haven't been targeted, you're just another brick in the wall. There are people with much, much heavier info than anyone on this forum who are still walking free, despite not being tech wizards.

If they want to track you down, they can and will. Unless you know as well or better than they do, it's about that simple.

PizzagateBot

You type a lot but say very little.

You could of boiled your two replies down to "NSA is too powerful, don't bother protecting yourself" but you want to appear a lot more technical than you probably are so you bloat your message.

In any case, that is like saying you shouldn't lock your door because someone could pick the lock or just kick it in.

NOBODY in cyber security has this mentality. It is incredibly stupid and you are just coming off as a shill.

dFrog

No, sir. That was straight drunken writing, start to finish, just like every post I've made in this thread.

Disclaimer: Don't take tech advice from me because I'm not a tech person. Otherwise, I stand by what I've written. If I am wrong, by all means, correct me.

V____Z

We're all being watched at all times, period. TOR was and is funded by the fucking NSA. Pizzagatebot is a forum sliding troll that people are starting to wake up to, he blames others for doing exactly when he does, a la https://townhall.com/columnists/johnhawkins/2012/04/13/12-ways-to-use-saul-alinskys-rules-for-radicals-against-liberals-n917872

dFrog

@AliensinParis I totally understand and appreciate where you're coming from. Understand that I do have discretion and a degree of tech-savvy. I more-or-less know shady links when I see them, but what I'm talking about is publicly telling the truth.

I'm very close to a local case that is corrupt to the bone and has claimed the freedom of someone I know. I've been dealing with this situation for a while now and I have learned how to "operate." Anything hard that I find will be committed to both writing and video and distributed in such a way that killing me will not silence it. I am certainly not the kind of person to totally neglect thinking about OpSec and that sort of stuff. That would just be naive. But, I do promote a sort of "brute force of truth" approach, where the truth is used as a weapon. I set traps for people to come fuck with me so that in retaliation, they will only dirty their hands and highlight themselves as guilty players.

On top of all of that, I'm not someone who's doing the most sensitive research. I don't think I'll ever be much of a threat unless and until I start producing content.

unbiased_researcher

Maybe not the perfect example for others to follow, but gotta respect someone who rises up in the face of fear while everyone else is too afraid to even talk about pizzagate.

joey4track

Yeah one of the most frustrating part of all this is seeing good people just keep their heads down smart people too but it seems as if America has turned into a nation of spineless pussies. Plus it's not real enough for most yet if you haven't felt sick to your stomach you haven't quite achieved full wokeness.

freedomwraith

I'm with you brother

dFrog

Dude, get real. Why don't you just write an essay with all of your thoughts and post that instead of dropping these bitchy little nothings with a new account every week? Better yet, make a video! You're basically a meme around here.

PG-IsRetardedAsFuck1

just write an essay with all of your thoughts

Using facts and reason against insane conspiratards is useless, and besides I can't enumerate all the things that are wrong with pizzagate, there's just too much.

If critical thinking was like a window net, like this one:

http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NTY2WDg0OA==/z/vHAAAOSwHnFVgUjc/$_32.JPG?set_id=880000500F

That has to filter out insects(irrational ideas) from passing trough, pizzagate would be like a full grown elephant. Not only it wouldn't fit trought the window net, wouldn't fit trough the window itself, but it wouldn't even fit in the entire room. Pizzagate doesn't make sense on all the possible levels something cannot make sense. That's the reason why it intrigues me to be here and do this posts. And that's the truth whether you like it or not.

dFrog

Granting you the generous benefit-of-doubt that you are genuine, your problem is that you fail at thinking about thinking.

What you diagnose as ridiculous simply isn't. It is based on assumptions and preconceptions that do not withstand the test of true logic, I.e., logic that is not biased in favor of trusting the status-quo establishment.

PG-IsRetardedAsFuck1

Granting you the generous benefit-of-doubt that you are genuine

You mean to not just assume that I'm being paid to come here to mock and insult you and take it as fact. The idea that I'm being paid to come on a forum of conspiracy insanity and "divert the investigation" is laughable.

What you diagnose as ridiculous simply isn't

Pizzagate doesn't seem ridiculous to you because you lack common sense, basic critical thinking skills, and you're into believing insane nonsense. You're are part of the category of the "insane conspiratards". And this forum is an echo chamber of conspiracy insanity.

http://i.imgur.com/7Jxe4w5.jpg , http://i.imgur.com/xItcyuv.jpg , http://i.imgur.com/RXKsFSK.jpg

Unfortunately for you, the rest of the world is not made up by "insane conspiratards".

Pizzagate is a ridiculous and obviously fictitious conspiracy theory. It's arguments are obviously flawed and absurd.

That's why pizzagate was labeled as fictitious by the DC police, fact checking sites, nearly all the major media outlets and and ridiculed all over the place. That's the consequence of pizzagate being a ridiculous conspiracy theory, everything that insane conspiratards label as a elite cover up, which is absolutely ridiculous.

You can go down the road of conspiracy insanity as much as you want, but you can't escape reality.

remus_schmitt

You know I'm really sick of your dumbass. Dispute the facts. You say pizzagate is a full grown elephant of "irrational ideas". Debunk it. THERE IS A 50,000 DOLLAR REWARD FOR DEBUNKING PIZZAGATE. don't you want that money ? Or are you just another little b*** on the internet - protecting someone important ?

I didn't said that "fact-checking website, da police, and da media say it's fake so it's fake" you ridiculously stupid fuck, I said that pizzagate being labaled as fictitious by the police fact checking sites the media and ridiculed all over the place is a consequence of pizzagate being a ridiculous conspiracy theory.
