Watergate started with the crime of burglary by fake plumbers. But that wasn't really the crime was it. The real crime was President Nixon ordering the break in. And that took TWO YEARS to prove sufficiently to get Nixon to resign.

Pizzagate did not start with a crime. But that's little consolation as almost every day reporters like George Webb uncovered more and more evidence pointing to crimes so great they'll make Watergate looking like a parking ticket.
