At the outset of PG and the subsequent suppression of by authority figures, the Salem Witch Trials jumped right into my head. I cannot escape the feeling that somehow the trials were more about the discovery of widespread abuse and immediate cover up ( narrative switch ) by the elders of the community. The 'official' story never rang true to me, ever. The term 'Witch Hunt' carried on to this day and is exclusively used to suppress the uncovering of massive conspiracies, involving scores of people. Many innocent people were put to death, mostly children, who were more than likely victims of abuse. This is exactly what happened during the Franklin Scandal to the victims that came forward and the good people who attempted to uncover that pedophile/abuse ring.

Dressing up in costumes and committing the abuse is apparently pretty common.

It's because that, when the young child starts talking about their 'friend' Mr. Cat/rabbit/spider man they sound like they are talking about an imaginary friend or making things up.

Chances are the kid had complained about it before by saying "A mean old witch sneaks into my bedroom and cuts my hair and scratches me!" But because of the costume, no one believed her.

The creators of Barney the Dinosaur ended up having to make an episode where the kids introduce him to their parents so that in reality, if someone started dressing up as the character and abusing/abducting kids, the kids would know not to keep their 'friend' a secret from their parents.

As a child I was obsessed with Santa Claus, so much so that my grandpa grew his beard out just for me heh. A couple of councilors learned about this and used it to abuse me.
