Google Maps - Gives you the option to "ADD" a place on google maps. Does this means anyone called have added Podesta Pizza Shop!! ( pizzagate )

Okay correct me if i am wrong but if you go into Google Maps and pick a location -any location. You have the option to "ADD" something to that location if its not already there. Example if you have a business that cannot be seen on Google Maps anyone can go in and fill in the information required and it will appear on Google Maps. IF you don't believe me -go try it for YOURSELF!! :) So my question is this - how do we know for certain that the Podesta Pizza Shop out in the middle of no where is actually what it says it is. All i'm saying is there is no point researching something if its not legit. If it is legit that's fine but...it just seems too easy to go and add places onto Google Maps wherever you feel like it. Its quite extraordinary really.

Last week they removed an editing function and encouraged us to be local guides instead.

There should be a primer on GMaps use, remember when we thought holy shot Google is bolding fresh and cheese and kids lol

I doubt it, but anything is possible. Imo. Agan this is an opinion, it was probably someone's dumb joke.

Yes I think I know what you mean. I have edited buisiness opening hours on there for some of the local takeaways and shops but it always goes to google for checking first. I am unsure if this is the process for adding a whole new buisiness. I understand what you are saying .. it could someone messing with us. My balls arent big enough to try it myself either ha.

Yes you have that option. So now that this is established, yes anyone couldve added it. And yes it has to be approved.
