I can't link to this because it's someone else's personal story, but just this morning on my PTSD online community someone shared a story about how they had been to multiple therapists in an attempt to recover from being sexually abused by a ring of teachers as a child. At least one (they may have said more than one) systematically told this person, "That could not have happened. There could not have been multiple teachers involved." The person stopped seeing the therapist and found someone supportive after that. Then, incidentally, found some kind of proof that he or she had been abused by more than one person.

I keep wondering, what is in it for the apologists? Are they part of the conspiracy, or are they naive? If not for the apologists, it would be much easier to stop the abusers and help the survivors.
