This is not unusual on the very small scale DIY scene that Comet is part of, but I would be genuinely surprised if this is true of all bands at Comet. There's have a main stage and small stage there. The main room is the ping pong room and they put them away when they have a show. For smaller shows, they use the back room, and I would bet those folks don't get paid because often that is experimental music. But they have bands at Comet from out of town and I would be surprised if a band that is well known enough to tour isn't getting paid when they play Comet.

Having a place to play in front of an audience is real important/valuable to a band just starting out. I also suspect they also have a lot of bands where everybody has day jobs and they only do a show every few months. In those cases, you play out just to play in front of your friends.

Comet and Ping Pong are not next to each other, so unless this passageway also includes another business, most likely the people were walking to Comet on the street or through the alleyway like you normally would. All along, I have thought CPP is the transactional front for the activity...the reason the computer (allegedly damaged by the magic bullet fired by the gunman who initially was reported not to fire his gun) had to be removed. There had been a finding of child porn on the computer, which was sent to authorities who apparently did not act upon it. There was analysis of the Comet logo where it drew the same conclusion (based upon the placement of the logo and the word "come" within it), within a larger image with three men and a child I believe. I could not find the image. JA tried to misdirect, as did the strawman articles by the LSM, by focusing on a false claim that we had tied the activities to a supposed basement at CPP.
