Didn't take long to find this. The same judge doled out 40 months sentence for rape of an 11 year old because he agreed she "looked 14" (yes folks, 14) and was a "willing participant" sentence was later raised to 7 years by the Crown Appeal Court. I rest my case.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2104287/Child-rapists-jailed-just-40-months--judge-said-11-year-old-victim-willing.html . These judges deserve some digging ....shovel at the ready

Mad_As_Hell

Yep, he's got a habit of sympathising with pedos. I mentioned this case in a comment above, the sentence should have been 11-17 years! Glad to hear they extended it to 7 years in the end

I think it's about time we started to focus on the judges in these overtly lenient sentences.

AssFaceSandwich2

"Jarvis pleaded guilty to four charges of MAKING and two of distributing indecent images of children"

If he has already gotten to the point where he has made cp then he is in fact a high risk to children.

angry_mob

he's really creepy lookin' eh?

DonKeyhote

Naw they all dress like that there it's not a trAnny LOL

Mad_As_Hell

Wow just found this on the judge's Wikipedia page, he has form:

In 2011 Farrell presided over a case of the rape of an 11-year-old girl in Luton. Two men, Roshane Channer and Ruben Monteiro, both 21, pleaded guilty. In his sentencing remarks Farrell explained why he was departing from sentencing guidelines, of 11–17 years custody and imposing sentences of 40 months imprisonment stating; "...despite her age, ... this was consensual in the sense that she was a willing participant; and, secondly, because of the fact that you, as I have already found, reasonably believed her to be fourteen, not as young as eleven." https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Farrell_(judge)

Figures. Thanks for the info

Consenting FUCKING ADULTS..This is what is missing from this story...porn addiction my ass this is something deeper and much darker I am sick and tired of the parallels being drawn between these very different things. Conciliate much?!

Mad_As_Hell

According to this website he admitted to four counts of making indecent images of children, which suggests that there are victims of his out there - how is he considered low risk?? http://www.cps.gov.uk/news/latest_news/cambridge-university-professor-sent/

sugarskull

I think that depends entirely upon whom you ask...If it were me I would say there is NO SAFE VIEWER OF CHILD PORN. There are ALWAYS VICTIMS!

Mad_As_Hell

100%

AssFaceSandwich2

Oops, just said the same thing above, but it is worth repeating.

2impendingdoom

Two problems here: 1. Judges who are way to lenient 2. DailyMail's right hand column is all sexed up pics, practically porn, granted they are adults pics but still, sheesh, isn't this contributing to the problem of overly sexualized media. I don't think of myself as prudish but having to wade through a sea of tits to get the news is ridiculous.

Mad_As_Hell

Very dangerous pairing stories about child abuse with titillating (pun intended) images, can really mess with people's heads - I've heard that police units who work with CP are very careful to avoid creating paired associations like this

jstayz44

Hopefully he has some arrangement to share with authorities all of his sources for obtaining child porn, and maybe a set-up or two. Otherwise I will also be Mad_As_Hell!

gamepwn

God makes me distrust my irl professors

MiikoKiiko

gamepwn - I went back to college as an adult, a mom of 3 teenagers, and was shocked and embarrassed to overhear the adjunct professor of my Sociology class describing to a young female student, the technique of fellatio he enjoys. It was a very lively conversation for all to hear, right in the classroom. It was just wrong on every level, but that's what it's come to.

angry_mob

you should've narced on him! he should be fired for that conduct man - totally inappropriate!
