California police have arrested 23 men and women in a human trafficking and prostitution sting.

Officials say that a three-month investigation of the website stockton.backpage.com led the Stockton Police Department to eight young girls involved in prostitution. The girls ranged in age from 14 to 17 years old. Police spokesman Joe Silva says the girls are from the Stockton area.

It's great to see these reports of these arrests which seem to have begun months ago --

but there is also a great deal of concern about the disposition of these cases and what the penalties might be -- and always about what happens to the victims and what kind of help they get.

So, the question is, are these arrests a joke on us? Are they stringing us along? They always seem to work in alphabet letters or numbers. Just seems odd, these same amount of arrests each time. And so many, not just 2 or 3. We should keep track.
