Diplomatic immunity extends to the diplomats staff as well. The immunity applies in the host country not the diplomat's home country. Our government can ask another country for a waiver of immunity if one of its diplomats engages in a crime in the US but this is rarely sought and even more rarely granted. One other remedy is revocation of the diplomat's visa but this avenue is rarely utilized and I don't think it was ever used during the Obama adminstration.

The laws of diplomatic immunity originate with centuries old customs which was codified by the Vienna Conventions of 1961. Because human trafficking has become an enormous problem worldwide for the 21st century, it is time to revisit the 1961 Vienna Conventions. This narrow legal issue would make a very good "cause" for anyone devoted to stopping this scourge upon our planet. Thank you HereticalPeasant for bring this issue to our attention.

Isn't it ironic that this article leads with Clinton being the "champion" against trafficking? All while her husband's track record and her support/acceptance of what was done to his victims is on public display.

Hypocrisy overdrive.
