EDITORIAL - Child Porn | May 11 - 12, 2017

This editorial is specifically about the (now off-air) Public Service Announcement in question here. It's written by the station manager, Paul Lotsof, who also wrote that PSA. Here are a few excerpts - difficult to choose - since this entire editorial is quite a piece of work.

I’m delighted with the exposure that we have received. If nothing else it has really put tiny Benson on the map even though our city officials probably don’t appreciate any of this. ...

Judging by the posts on Facebook and other web sites it is clear that a lot of people have managed to misunderstand what I said in my one minute announcement. ... I am not a pedophile and I don’t have any child pornography in my possession and have a hard time understanding why anyone would want it. But I do understand that there are some folks out there who do like this material and I feel some sympathy for their plight. ...

Now let’s say a few words about the self appointed guardians of the public morals. ...

He wraps it up, by disparaging his detractors as moralists , mobsters , raving hypocrites , and law-breakers , then thanking the people who continue to support CAVE-FM.

EDITORIAL - Arizona Criminal Justice | February 10 -13 2017

Another editorial by Lotsof, defending a Native American man, who - due to an unfortunate upbringing, and his aversion ( allergy ) to working - is homeless, jobless, and living in the streets. Because this man has had multiple arrests for urinating in public , he's also been charged with multiple offenses of indecent exposure, which will likely require him to register as a sex offender.

The reason I've linked THIS editorial is to show how Lotsof uses this story as another opportunity to refer to (whitewash) child pornography as merely CERTAIN dirty pictures.

Excerpt: Let’s ask some questions: Why do we have a law that makes a person a sex offender if he really isn’t a sex offender? ... Why do our laws prescribe terrible penalties for any crime that has even a hint of sex ? For example, why do we have a law that prescribes life in prison for people who download CERTAIN DIRTY PICTURES on their computers?

The answer is that for many years Arizona’s criminal laws have been written and passed by the most extreme element of the Republican Party. ...

Lotsof starts off his Your Opinions page with a WHINE-fest about money - he doesn't have enough to improve the station's service, or improve the shitty website, because - local people and businesses are too cheap to buy his advertising time; it's just too hard to find good ad salespersons... ending with a little BITCH-fest, over submissions that suggest the station have a social media presence, BUT WON'T TELL HIM WHY. He's sick to death of hearing about Facebook and Twitter, and hoping they will be a passing fad.

I think with all the negative things that come out of your editorials and comments it is no wonder why many of the local businesses don't want to advertise with you. It is one thing to share your opinion and another thing to imply that everyone else is stupid if they don't agree with you. Your latest editorial tells the story. You got mad because SSVEC threatened to cut off your electricity because you didn't pay the bill. ... How many other businesses in the Benson area have you driven away? ...
