This isn't breaking news, but I hadn't seen it talked about on pizzagate. A while back, I saw Rabbi Johnathan Kahn talking about the replica arch from the ancient Temple of Baal being set up in New York. Baal worship involved sacrificing both infants and adults. I wondered who would approve this, considering the gruesome past associated with this item. Well NYC mayor William de Blasio called it an act of solidarity with those in Syria and Deputy Mayor Alicia Glen referred to it as “a symbol of freedom.” In London, then mayor Boris Johnson viewed this re-creation as a way of standing up to ISIS in wake of their attacks on Syria, calling ISIS "savage." While I can understand trying to preserve the original for archaeological purposes, once ISIS destroyed it, let it go. Recreating the arch to celebrate Syria's history seems overboard. Surely there must be something better in Syria's heritage that they could have celebrated. If not, it's not a heritage worth celebrating. Also, how is your country standing up to a barbaric group by placing a symbol from an ancient religion that was as much, if not more barbaric than ISIS? According to the Christianity Today article, there were plans to build a full replica temple in London. Thankfully, those plans were scrapped.

Please note: while a couple of these sources are clearly religiously biased, they do a good job at pointing out how terrible baal worship was and why it is nothing worth celebrating.
