There is no statute of limitations for murder, so why is there one for child rape?

The victims are traumatized by the attack, re-traumatized by contact with the perp, and intimidated against speaking out on top of all that. The fact that the victim is intimidated invalidates the statute of limitations, IMHO.

If this statute were to be abolished, imagine how many would go to jail for their offenses, and be prevented from causing further harm, It might also cause others to think twice before committing such crimes, if they fear that a victim can come forward later on.
