The Cosby trial is proof that people are unable to separate truth from reality. They could not override their love of Cliff Huxtable in order to see the criminal that is Bill Cosby - a mere actor who fooled everyone. Just like Hillary Clinton, people cannot see the monster behind the crazy smile.
