There's a term in journalism called burying the lede, it's when the big story in a news report is buried several paragraphs into the report.

He was sentence to 20 years for his Watergate crimes. President Carter commuted it to 8 years. After prison he became a radio talk show host, an author, he was on Miami Vice, he even was a guest referee on Wrestlemania II
