The article says she was a child abuse investigator with the SVU unit. I'm sure in that sort of a position you make a lot of enemies. Not only angry parents who have lost custody of their children, but also possible traffickers who don't want to be exposed. Maybe she was investigating something that someone didn't want investigated. There aren't enough details here to really tell exactly what happened, but sure sounds fishy to me.
