I've long-suspected, but never been able to prove, Hagel's involvement in Franklin. He was a DC-area businessmen and GHWBush administration ally when Franklin (which involved flying children to DC) was going on, got brought back to Omaha as the result of a 1987 meeting arranged by John Gottschalk (president and future publisher of the Omaha World-Herald, which attacked Franklin victims as liars, and part of a circle of businessmen who controlled governor Bob Kerrey, whose law enforcement apparatus later covered up Franklin), and spent several years as chairman and CEO of an Omaha voting machine company (now ES&S, the US's largest voting machine vendor) owned by the World-Herald. Sadly, Madsen's claim is unsourced.
