This suffers from the same problems that the original Uranium One story suffered from before it fell apart.

For one, it's a Post hoc fallacy with no proof whatsoever of causality. The author of the Clinton Cash book had to admit that he had no evidence whatsoever of quid pro quo.

Post hoc ergo propter hoc (Latin: "after this, therefore because of this") is a logical fallacy that states "Since event Y followed event X, event Y must have been caused by event X." It is often shortened simply to post hoc fallacy.

Post hoc is a particularly tempting error because temporal sequence **appears to suggest causality. **The fallacy lies in a conclusion based solely on the order of events, rather than taking into account other factors potentially responsible for the result that might rule out the connection.

For two, Clinton had no dealing with CIFEUS. The State Deparment representative said that this issue AND all other CIFEUS issues never got raised to the level of the Secretary.

For three, this deal was not approved by the State Deparment only. It was approved by the US government. Many, many departments on are the CIFEUS board which is headed by the Treasury Department. Congress can weigh in as well.

For four, this deal did not pose any threat to National Security and the Atomic Energy Commission said so. The reason is Uranium One both before and after this deal DOES NOT EXPORT uranium and they can not export uranium. All the Uranium they dig up they sell within the US. Uranium mining is highly controlled and you need a special uranium export license which the companies involved do not have. In fact uranium prices fell greatly and Uranium One has been selling off a of of it's US operations. Russia wanted to buy them because of mines in Kazakhstan.

This story appears to rely exactly on folks not knowing any of these work for their narrative to make sense. I surely didn't know about CIFEUS before this story came out.

This sentence in the article is a flat out lie

The first decision occurred in October 2010, when the State Department and government agencies on the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States unanimously approved the partial sale of Canadian mining company Uranium One to the Russian nuclear giant Rosatom, giving Moscow control of more than 20 percent of America’s uranium supply.

You wrote that pretty quickly ! Let's see....

Right after reading the article.

You have to read the article twice to find out that these bribes were about Russian uranium entering the US, not US uranium going to Russia. The whole thing is assbackwards.

They also obtained an eyewitness account — backed by documents — indicating Russian nuclear officials had routed millions of dollars to the U.S. designed to benefit former President Bill Clinton’s charitable foundation during the time Secretary of State Hillary Clinton served on a government body that provided a favorable decision to Moscow, sources told The Hill.
