How often do sealed indictments appear on the pacer site? Is this unusual compared to any other time? Until we know this, we are jumping to conclusions with no direct evidence. They're sealed so by definition we have no idea who is involved.

The real stat is how often they taken out. A comparative number is stated above ... somewhere. So whether they're picked up is a separate stat.

Twelve sealed indictments? I don't think that's the right question. It's not how often it's done, it shows there's a massive case and that they're after a lot of individuals. It's confirmation of what's going on.

One obvious question is how common sealed indictments are. Reilly counted them up and found that roughly 60 of the 188 criminal cases filed this year are currently sealed. One-third means any individual sealed case isn’t that uncommon. On the other hand, including the Papadopoulos and Manafort/Gates documents, this means there were no fewer than six sealed criminal cases filed in a 22-day span, starting with Papadopoulos on October 5 and ending with Manafort/Gates on October 27. That’s more than you’d expect over such a short period from a random distribution — but not much more. Lawyer Gabriel Malor says it seems like a normal amount to him, suggesting that the other sealed indictments might not be Mueller’s handiwork.

Okay, so this Hot Air guy (good name for him) states that the six sealed indictments in 22 days is not uncommon, but this was twelve. But were they from the same source and in what time period were they taken out? That would be the key in determining the answer to your question. I'm not privvy to those stats.

If you look at the full-size image , you can see that the report has been generated for the period between 10/28/2017 and 11/4/2017, in other words, a single week. Manafort/Gates is not included in that interval, so we're talking about a total of 12 new ones.

Judging by the case numbers, at least 10 of these 12 must have followed each other in rapid succession (794 through 809). If that is indeed the case, then we're looking at 10 within a short time span (possibly a single day), with a total of 12 over a maximum of 7 days (possibly less). That, compared to 6 indictments in 22 days, might indeed be more than what's normal.

I'm not sure for certain, but a few days ago someone was posting that its normal for 20-30% of cases to individually get sealed initially for a variety of reasons, however no evidence has been presented to suggest it is 'normal' at all for so many cases to be sealed all at once like that. 'normally' of a day like has been posted there should be like 2 or 3 sealed cases scattered throughout the schedule, not like.. 12 sealed cases in a row all on the same day.
