Assuming the original idea was to make normies, who really just don't get it, to be aware of the twisted mentality of young child pedos. There are those that LOL at the very idea of Leo Di Caprio choosing his next girlfriend from the Victoria's Secret catalog. (Actually his mother has a tremendous amount of influence so she probably does most of the research on potential models looking for a career boost.)

To be confronted with the idea adults can now do the very same thing for little kids online, and it's solely for the perps' selfish desires, may make some more emotionally connected to the problem of child trafficking. Otherwise too many can dismiss it as just an issue of living in an overpopulated 3rd world country.

Yes the journalist's goal could badly backfire at the same time. Still I believe they were hoping for shock value for those whose heads are deeply buried in the sand.
